Margin Legends: how the notebook auto-battler plays

THE NOTEBOOK AUTO-BATTLER, UP CLOSE

From a plan to a little mayhem.

Margin Legends is an auto-battler drawn in a school notebook: you shop and place, the doodles fight on their own. Two real screenshots, the lobby and the battle; tap one to see it full size.

If you like Teamfight Tactics or Super Auto Pets but want it on paper and at your own pace, this one is for you.

Lobby: shop, unit cards and your formation on the board
01 / The lobby Build your next great plan.
Battle: your doodles fighting another player's saved team
02 / The battle Let your little legends loose.

THE PLAN IS SIMPLE

Doodle. Deploy. Dominate.

Each round you buy units, place them on your half of the board and press Battle. The fight plays out on its own; the thinking is yours.

01 /

Collect units

Find your favorites in the shop. Collect more copies to take them all the way to level 4.

tiny army, huge potential
02 /

Draw your formation

Put every doodle in its place. Pair their traits and turn a few good units into a great team.

yes, placement matters
03 /

Watch the battle

Let your little legends loose. Face other players’ saved formations, then rethink your next move.

beautiful, strategic chaos

MEET YOUR MARGIN LEGENDS

Big personalities.
Small sketches.

A brave knight. A very determined Viking. A pirate captain with a hook and a plan. 21 units in three factions, seven in each; every one is also a Fighter, a Tank or a Ranger, and the pricier ones bring a move of their own.

Armor up. Medieval units gain armor as their crew grows.

When can I play? ↓

ONE MORE ROUND?

A whole adventure.
In the margins.

A run ends when you fill 5 stars (10 wins) or run out of your 20 health. No timers anywhere: take your turn whenever you like.

2 → 10

Room to grow

You place 2 units in round 1 and one more every round, up to 10.

20 ♥

Make it count

You start with 20 health. Losing round 7 costs 7. Wins and draws cost nothing.

5 ☆

Chase the stars

Every 2 wins fill a star. Fill 5 stars and the run is yours.

You vs. a plan

Real opponents

No queues, no turn timers. Your opponent is a team another player built. Play a round, put the phone down, come back later.

3+ coins

Signature moves

Pricier legends bring a trick of their own. The Knight's Charge stuns, a Piercing Bolt hits the whole line, the Jarl's War Cry rallies every Viking, and a Cannonball sends enemies flying.

3 kills

Plunder the page

Pirates keep count. Every third kill makes all your pirates stronger for the rest of the run and brings in a little gold.

3 · 6 · 9

Pick a doodle

In rounds 3, 6 and 9 you choose one of three doodles and keep it for the rest of the run. Big Eraser, for one, rubs out the first 2 hits on each of your units.

Sticker album

Fill the pages

Win with a unit, switch on a trait, pull off something special (say, winning with a single unit): each pastes a sticker into an album that stays between runs.

ASKED IN THE BACK ROW

Quick questions.

Is it free?

Yes. Margin Legends is free to play.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Without a connection you fight teams already saved on your device, or one the game builds itself. New ones arrive the next time you are online.

Do I need an account?

No. An account is optional: it puts your username on the teams you send out, so other players see who beat them.

Is it real-time PvP?

No. You play against teams other players built earlier. Nobody waits for you, and you wait for nobody.

When is Steam?

After Google Play. Early access opens there on November 20; the Steam version for PC follows.
